About

Yet another collection of random links and rantings of a greying unix geek with a photography bent. Pass the Guinness and Grecian Formula.

This started out as an interesting story of a company kicking Microsoft to the curb but the story dwindled and petered out. The author is now apparently got his blinkers on and is blind to anything other than the Novell/Microsoft agreement.

Get over it, at least temporarily, please. Give us the goods on the rest of that story. It was so promising and yet empty in the end, without any resolution.

Update: I went back and read the last instalment and now I remember that there is some criminal case pending, which is why Helios is gagged. Well, crud. We can probably kiss goodbye knowing the last part of the story then, for at least several years.

I’m still dissapointed in the being obsessed over the Novell/Microsoft deal. Novell’s been on the long slide toward oblivion for quite some time. Helios should just get over it, Novell has signed their death warrant and will pay the piper soon enough.

Microsoft is also on the decline and they just don’t know it yet, probably won’t know it for another few years.

The rest of the world will move on with RedHat or Solaris on the server side and a growing percentage of Mac OS X on the client side….

MSFT won’t go away but they will become less important. Internal self-conflicting forces are already in motion that will cause this with or without outside help. (Haven’t MSFT been voted the most dysfunctional company at some point or another?)
