Yet another collection of random crud found on other sites, interspersed with the rantings of a not-quite-greybeard unix geek. Pass the Guinness and Grecian Formula.

  2. np, Dave. I can’t get a stable note out of a tuning fork, nevermind playing an instrument. Unless you count my camera, (and my unix hacking) I have next to zero “creative” ability :-p

  3. I’d say the Unix hacking counts for sure! I’m not in your league on that, in fact I hardly do it at all anymore, but I do know that some really cool things can be accomplished that way.

Actually, I just found in my CD collection a sequencing program that I wrote 5 years ago, and thought lost. I was VERY happy to get it back. It makes writing music a little like programming: you give it samples and “source code”, then you “compile” it with my program, and music comes out.

It worked right out of the box I put it in five years ago, too, which was nice.

I don’t write whole songs that way anymore, but it’s great for fakin’ in a drum track.
