Yet another collection of random links and rantings of a greying unix geek with a photography bent. Pass the Guinness and Grecian Formula.

Nifty shot, even if it is a tad overdone with the post processing. She even has a link to the music.

Subject: Please do not put the 3rd floor cage telephone on top of any servers
It has enormous potential EMF and could scramble a server memory or hard drive very easily, especially when it rings. (Yes, it is an old rotary with big electromagnet bell ringer).
I had brought it in for fun, but if it’s going to be endangering equipment, I’ll take it home.
I will be getting a telephone extension cord so that the phone can be moved to the desk. I’ll try to get that installed tomorrow.
Sometimes I really have to wonder if any people understand grade school electromagnetics. It’s not like any of the possible perpetrators is young enough to have never seen or used one of these. Or are they???
A nice coherent rant about Facebook groups / applications / yaddayadda. Yep, most of that crap is double plus ungood. I did dabble with adding FB applications and such at the beginning but have since pared down to the bare minimum.
Oh that reminds me, my high school reunion group is lingering on the edge of non existence. I should crank it up a notch and start spamming people to remind them it is there so we can get some plans off the ground. B-}
Unix is essentially - and embarrassingly - dead on the desktop, so Unix operating system makers have the luxury of only having to worry about servers.
What you talkin’bout Willis?
Ever hear of OS X? 10.5 Leopard is UNIX certified and has more a respectabledesktop share ( approx 9% ) than all the other Unix and Unix-wannabe (Linux) variations out there.
