What rules of the road?

What rules of the road?, originally uploaded by cyberdex.

Note how the two cars ahead are wandering over the white line onto the shoulder. For no good reason that we could see at the time…

These are likely the same kind of people that wander over the centreline when they are oncoming towards you.

Mandatory testing for drivers license renewals, or at least every 4 years would seem like a no brainer to me.

Awareness test

Pay close attention.

It’s dead Jim, dead Jim, dead.

Lovely piece of kit you have there, Starchoice. It’s gone tits up on me, again.

Yes, our beloved DSR 530 aka DVR 530 aka personal video recorder for Starchoice, which apparently was designed by moronic chimps at Motorola and the firmware subsequently hacked by Starchoice’s crack team of microencephalitic gnats . . . is dead again.

Over an hour playing cable-swap, hold buttons in, stick your tongue out while you do this next, etc gyrations and a little bit of insistance on my part, we have yet another replacement on it’s way in 7 to 10 business days for a low low cost of $13.99 shipping.

Same symptoms as last time.

Same cure. Send it back, we’ll send you a refurb.

This one has lasted two years. Maybe by the time our 3rd one dies in another approx 2 years, we will be able to do away with cable/satellite entirely.

iTunes, Bit Torrent, etc have already started to fill the gap. We do watch a portion of our tv via the intel Mac Mini which resides with our AV stack these days.

Sigh.

Nuthatch on suet

Nuthatch on suet, 1 of 3, originally uploaded by cyberdex.

A shot from last month. Nuthatch feeding on caribou suet. I was able to get within about 6 feet to take this shot with my 18-200mm lens.

Arriving TOO early to an interview

Monday, March 10th, 2008

I don’t understand people, that is clear.

The latest thing to irk me is seeing someone come in the front door and announce they have an interview with (insert boss’s name here) at 10am. It is 9:42am.

Don’t you think you should have went for a walk around the building lobby for a bit, maybe go to the washroom and check your appearance etc, then came back at 9:55-ish?

Now you’re going to be sitting in the chair near the door here waiting and waiting and everyone walking by for the next 20 min is going to go “who the fsck is that?”
