Amazing what crawls out of the woodwork during elections. True or not, it is an interesting example of the best and worst of USA election years.

I know it really isn’t quite this bad, but for whatever reason it seems that no matter where I work I get last moment “OMG teh sky is fallin” requests, and it seems like there is always a stinky dung fire that needs me to piss on it to put it out.

Job descriptions tend to describe jobs with the above situation “interrupt driven”.

I call it “systemic failure due to lack of process, planning, communication”

It also isn’t uncommon for companies to fill my position with two people once I do decide to move on.

Now, am I a sucker who gets into these roles on purpose, or do I just take on more and more and make the role that big, or am I simply that good compared to the rest of the people.

Yeah, lets keep that ego in check.

I think it’s more likely the old saw about doing the impossible with the inadequate for the ungrateful . . .

Yes, I am a pessimist. I’d rather be pleasantly surprised when something goes right vs an optimist that is constantly dissapointed by reality. :-\
