The ref is at 7 and nearing 10. Zooomr’s little train that could is nearly at a standstill.

This person wrote the best summary thus far. It’s a shame, really. Sounds for all the world that all they need is someone with operations experience and a bit of $ to build a stable infrastructure for Kris’s pretty code to run on.

I’ll not dwell on it any longer.

Perhaps sometime late in June they’ll be up, if they have gotten up off the cement and back into the ring by then.

Alberta Weather Trivia

May 28, 1972: Only a trace of rain had fallen all month in Grande Prairie, AB. That, coupled with a heat wave with 40 degree temperatures, had residents gobbling up enormous amounts of water. Then a pump at the treatment plant broke. The city engineer’s solution to the crisis? “Drink beer.”

I stumbled across a reference to this on flickr today :

You only thought we had a few old interesting buildings. There’s oodles more that are long since gone, and pictures plus more are available via the public library at the link above.

Depressing on one hand, and interesting on the other, to look at what once was and is now no longer.

Ouch.

Oh well, looks like it’s just the weed aka Laurel Leaf Willow in our yard that sustained any lasting damage.

Lots of other trees are really bent and weighed down with snow but I don’t think they have any major broken branches. We’ll have to do a survey of the entire yard once the snow melts.
