This was the first night’s sunset on our recent visit to Maui, at the end of April this year.

Morning, Sheriff

Friday, September 1st, 2006

News to me, but it appears that Alberta has Sheriffs. They could have picked a better name for provincial enforcement types. Their duties bear zero resemblance to the Sheriff’s in the states, unless I’m mistaken.

Maybe they do tend to focus on being corrupt beer swilling flesh pressing politiking . . . nope, that’s just the ‘merican versions. What we have here is Ralph’s private protection force plus minor traffic cop duties.

fight back at telemarketers

The AstCrapper. Uses Asterisk PBX software to answer telemarketer’s phone calls and lead them on and on and on. See also TeleCrapper 2000 which was a more home brewed attempt from someone else.

Pilot locked out of cockpit in midflight

Friday, September 1st, 2006

At approximately 4:15 p.m., with approximately 20 minutes remaining on the two hour and 30 minute flight, the pilot on Flight 8475 apparently left the cockpit to use the washroom at the back of the plane, leaving the flight’s First Officer in control of the plane.

A flight attendant remained in the cockpit with the First Officer.

However when the pilot returned, the door was apparently stuck — or locked — and the pilot was unable to return into the cockpit.

I’ll bet he was “locked out”. Just what was the first officer and flight attendant up to, anyways? Hmmmm?
